problems with boyfriend and all always happen to teenagers around this the rural area? why? we have the same case too previously in kedah where this smart girl,15 years old Halimaton followed her boyfriend and marry him. Halimaton is from Baling,Kedah and that place is considered as rural areas. Any suggestions or idea why the problems of marrying or running away from home occur among them from this area?

let us understand the meaning of rural area first. Rural area means a place or area that is undeveloped or minimally developed, usually at countryside. This is my opinion on the matter ; usually rural areas provides little entertainment for teenagers. It is fine if the teenagers are not 'exposed' to urban way of life and what are there in the cities. But then, we have television, internet, newspaper, magazines and all sorts of medium that indirectly shows what is out there that are missing in their own place. exposed in this context means not knowing or have any pictures of the urban living style. unfortunately, childrens and teenagers in rural areas have been 'brainwashed' by the mass media that often pictured life in the city as something grand, amazing, lively, fun and all the positive part of it. It is not that we are saying mass media is not good and those in rural areas have to be denied from the luxury of it, because it is somehow, the sources of information, for them to know about things happening in the world. However, most of the time, mass media shows something that is on the surface only, and like a fairytale, this kids in rural area begin to imagine a life, much better and fun than what they are living at the moment.
For example in the news, the teenager, Marnie Abdul Sarang Bangun left her hometown in Sabah to go to Kuala Lumpur. Again, Kuala Lumpur are the heaven on earth for teenagers, as pictured by media. with lots of shopping complexes, amusement centres and everything. The partner, we can say, acts as a catalyst that encourages this teenager to believe what ever fantasy they have about big cities and therefore urge them to be bold enough to ran away from according to them, whatever dull live style they had in their hometown.

Now, do you agree if i say that mass media is also one of the factors that leads to social problems among teenagers?

Can it be true that the problematic younger generations today are what we had shaped them to be, and not noticed it?

i do agree media is one of the factors. they see it and they want to feel the moment because they don't have all the chances when they are at their hometown. but let's not say the media had brainwashed them because in my opinion if all the teenagers have enough education and good religious studies, they won't be easily trapped in what the media has shown them. smarter teenagers who indulge themselves wisely while watching media will know how to differentiate between fantasy and reality. it could be we are the one who shaped them to be like this, but i believe media influence gives the biggest impact on teenagers at rural areas. i think teenagers at city are not influenced by the media, because they have been exposed enough to entertainment. it will be a different case. in my point of view,it is the lack of family attention and friends influence.

I strongly agree with the points that the influence from friends can be one factor in increasing the social problem. Teenagers often to spend their time mostly with their friends when they attend school activities or when they going out together. Here, when they spend time together without any mission they tend to join bad activities such as loafing around the shopping complex, smoking and other bad habit that can lead to a serious teen problem. "Choose a positive friends lead to a positive attitude ". This quote remind us to choose a good friend because a good friend will guide us in a good way.
